PAP takes to the North to advocate for ratification of the PAP/MALABO Protocol

The third Vice-President, Hon. Bouras DJAMEL has begun an Advocacy Mission to Egypt on 1 September 2019.

Accompanied by Hon. Sidi BABA from Mauritania and the Egyptian Parliamentarians assigned to the Pan-African Parliament, Hon. Djamel was received by Mr. Soleiman WAHDAN, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the ARAB Republic of Egypt.

The delegation stressed on the importance of the ratification of the Malabo/PAP Protocol, to which the Egyptian Parliament Deputy Speaker pledged to escalate to the Foreign Minister and to the Presidency.

While North Africa has 7 countries, being; Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia and Western Sahara; to date, only Western Sahara has fully ratified the Malabo Protocol. Sudan and Algeria have both signed.

The Pan-African Parliament still needs at least 16 African-Union (AU) Member States to complete the ratification process for the Protocol to enter into force.
