PAP announces the passing of Hon. Joel Bweupe Ng’onga

The Pan-African Parliament (PAP) regrets to announce the untimely death of Hon. Joel Bweupe Ng’onga, a member of the continental Parliament representing the Republic of Zambia since May 2018.  He succumbed to an illness on 2 March 2021.

Hon. Chief Charumbira, Acting President of the PAP, has extended, on behalf of Parliamentarians and the Secretariat, his condolences to the family, the Parliament of Zambia and the Southern African Regional Caucus of the PAP. PAP’s Acting President has described the demise as an incommensurable loss to Zambia and the entire continent.

“As a member of the PAP Committee on Health, Labour and Social Affairs, he always rose to the occasion and made valuable contributions to ensure that the voice of African citizens was ably represented. Hon. Ng’onga will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.”

He served as Chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture, Lands and Natural Resources in the Parliament of Zambia until the time of his death. Hon. Ng’onga also served as Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock from 2015 to 2016. He is survived by his wife and children.
