PAP and Qatar to join forces to provide quality education in Africa

The Pan-African Parliament (PAP) is in talks with the State of Qatar to promote quality education on the African continent. The PAP, through its Committee on Education, has made low-quality teaching and learning, as well as inequalities and exclusion at all levels a priority issue on the continent.

Hon. Bouras Djamel, Acting President of the PAP, met with H.E Tarik Ali Faraj Al Ansari, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to South Africa to outline areas of interventions and how Qatar can be of assistance. Details of the way forward are expected to be paved when Permanent Committees of the PAP meet next month.

The two men also discussed developments taking place in Qatar following the decision by national authorities to open the political space by organising free national elections for membership of the Shura Council. PAP Acting President reiterated the support of Africa’s Parliament for this democratic step while conveying wishes for a successful process which strengthens citizen participation in the affairs of the State.

“This new era will pave the way for cooperation between the Pan-African Parliament and the representative Shura Council of the State of Qatar” says Hon. Djamel.
